How to Avoid the Most Common Life Regret

{ 0 comments }

I was reading an article the other day about what people most regret when they get to the end of their life. (I would be happy to share the article with you, but I regret to inform you that I forgot to bookmark it. “Regret” to inform you – hahaha!)

There has been research done around this question and what researchers found is that there is a common thread in most of the regrets. Most people find their biggest regrets to be what they didn’t do in their lifetime – the dreams they didn’t chase, the people they didn’t spend enough time with, the adventures they didn’t take, the hobbies they never learned.

The biggest regrets don’t come from failures, they come instead from the pursuits we never even try. Click to Tweet

How to Avoid the Most Common Life Regret

It’s not enough to know what people typically regret. It is better to know how to avoid the most common life regret.

In this 5 minute video I answer the question “What can I do to avoid the most common life regret?”

Start Taking Action Today

It is important to stop putting off what you believe to be the non-urgent aspects of your life.

Creating your Custom Built Life™ may never feel like the most urgent or important task on your “to do” list. But waiting until it is urgent is not the best plan because it either never becomes urgent and you die with the regret of having never lived life the way you wanted to, or the urgency is triggered by a life altering crisis that brings a lot of stress and uncertainty with it making the creation of your Custom Built Life even more difficult!

Think about the dreams you have put on hold and start taking action today.

Find people who will cheer you on and offer encouragement. Find people who are on a similar journey who can offer support and teach you what they have already learned. Find people who will help hold you accountable and won’t let you change your mind the first time the journey becomes uncomfortable or inconvenient.

With support and commitment you not only can avoid one of the most common life regrets, but you can also enjoy your life knowing it was customized to fit you and all of your dreams!

Your Assignment

I don’t want to die with any regrets! And I don’t want you to either!! So let’s commit to doing something about it right now.

Start by creating a list of the things that you are currently NOT doing that you would regret at the end of your life if you never started doing them.

Then start today by taking one small step toward the most important thing on your list. If you can’t decide which dream is most important, start with building your support group.

Next commit to taking one small step each day.

Share your dreams and action steps in the comments below. If you are looking for a support group, share that as well and perhaps you can join with other people in the Custom Built Life Community and support each other.

Warmly,
Stacy and Dave
