How to Improve Your Self Talk

{ 1 comment }

Today I want to talk to you about self-talk.

Your intrapersonal conversation, or how you talk to yourself, is so important. The words and tone that voice in your head uses shapes how you see yourself and what you believe you are capable of achieving.

Recently I heard someone talking about emotional abuse and this got me thinking about all the things we say to ourselves in our own head where no one else can hear.

Watch this short 5 minute video to see the correlation and how you can improve your self-talk if it is ever harsh or over-critical.

Now, of course, no one is perfect, so we will all have moments when that voice in our head is being less than nice and supportive. The important thing is to be able to notice those moments and then to choose to alter what the voice is saying.

With a little bit of practice, you can train the voice in your head to be a supportive ally in the creation of your Custom Built Life™.

Your Assignment

Turn the voice in your head into a powerful ally by improving your self-talk.

  • Pay attention to what you are saying.
  • Only say it if you would say it to out loud to a friend.
  • When you catch yourself saying something that is not so nice, stop, cancel it in your mind, and then reword it in a positive way.

As you listen to your self-talk, let me know what it is saying and how you are improving it. Ask for help in the comments if you are finding it a challenge to change the conversation going on in your head. I want to support you in making this change!
