The Impact of Changing Your Thoughts

Here’s a simple example of the impact of changing your thoughts.

There’s a dog in our neighborhood who barks the ENTIRE time he is out for his walk. Living on a corner we hear him coming up one street and going down the other. That’s a lot of barking.

I often work out on my screen porch in nice weather and the noise of his barking used to annoy me. I thought he shouldn’t be barking. I imagined how upset his owner was that the dog misbehaved on walks.

One day when Barky Dog was barking and walking his way past our house my daughter said, “I love that dog!”

I was confused and asked her why she loved him. Her answer showed me a completely new perspective.

She said she loves him because he’s always so happy when he’s out walking. She imagines he is calling out to everyone he sees sharing his joy of walking.

I had never thought of it that way! But once she shared her thought, I loved it!

Now I look forward to when Barky Dog walks by because I imagine his joy for life and walks and his desire to share it with everyone he meets.

My experience completely changed because my thoughts changed.

That is the power of changing your thoughts!
